NHD Topic

My topic for National History Day is about the Baton Rouge Bus Boycott. When I heard about this boycott I didn't think that it was a big deal, but once I started researching the topic I found out that it played a huge role in the Civil Rights Movement. What I want to do is prove that this boycott was the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement, and to raise awareness in Baton Rouge about it. In some sources it didn't mention the boycott being the first, but in others it stresses this a lot. I think that this movement was the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement.

In Baton Rouge many people have never heard of the Baton Rouge Bus Boycott. I would say that 80 percent of people have never heard of it. According to my research the Baton Rouge Bus Boycott was an inspiration to the boycott in Montgomery and an influence to MLK to start the Civil Rights Movement. This is an important part of Baton Rouge's history and the fact that it is going unnoticed is mind blowing.

  1. Like I told you in class, I really enjoy your topic. I had no idea that the bus boycott with Rosa Parks took place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Great job of making the 2nd paragraph more formal.
